Description
A Mortal Kombat themed project I am working on. I place the names of every single MK character into a bucket and pull a random one out. I then challenge myself to recreate that character through a simple sketch.
The Second character I picked from the bucket was Chameleon. The idea behind my Chameleon :
Zaterra was home to two different races. The Chameleons and the Reptilians (Never came up with an actual name for these races). The Reptilians thought of themselves as the superior race and governed over the realm. The Chameleons were considered to be the lesser race of the Saurian species. Chameleons who lived within the Reptilian cities were forced to be slaves. The ones who existed out in the wild lived in fear and constantly had to relocate to avoid being caught by the Reptilians.
This way of life was in place for thousands of years. But a small group of Chameleons would rise up and start a rebellion against the Reptilians. One figure in particular, known only as THE CHAMELEON, proved to be incredibly difficult for the Reptilian leader, Tetsurri. THE CHAMELEON was responsible for taking down several smaller Reptilian cities. Villages were burned, hundreds of Reptilian lives lost due to THE CHAMELEON's savage ways. THE CHAMELEON made it a habit to constantly inform Tetsurri that he would slay him and bathe in his blood.
Tetsurri was furious over THE CHAMELEON and as punishment for his defiance, Tetsurri had every Chameleon slave executed in the streets. This event drove THE CHAMELEON mad and a final assault was made against the capital city. The battle was massive. But after much blood shed, THE CHAMELEON finally made his way up to Tetsurri's throne room and slayed Zaterra's ruler. And just as THE CHAMELEON promised, he bathed in a pool of Tetsurri's blood.
THE CHAMELEON was not satisfied, however. Death was too easy for Tetsurri. He deserved worse. THE CHAMELEON couldn't let go of his disappointment and so he fled Zaterra and ventured into The Netherrealm hoping to find Tetsurri somewhere within the many layers of Hell.
The Chameleon people were now free from the Reptilian oppression. But their freedom was very short lived. A war between Gods broke out and the realm of Zaterra was destroyed. However, a single Reptilian man was found amongst the wreckage and taken into the custody of Outworld's mighty Emperor.
News of these events eventually reached THE CHAMELEON. He slipped deeper into insanity and vowed to not only make Tetsurri suffer more, but also slay the Reptilian survivor and punish the Gods responsible for Zaterra's destruction. He wrote his promise down on the mask he wears so that Tetsurri, Reptile and the Gods would remember what they have done as he cuts them open.
